About The QC

The Queen Street Conservatory was once the home of the Royal Conservatory of Music, and once upon a time Else Ewalds School of Dance among others. It has been recently restored to enhance the sophistication and original features that make the Conservatory so elegant.

Our ballet, ballroom & lyrical dance room features spectacular high ceilings dripping with crystal chandeliers wrapped in elaborate turn of the century mouldings. Grand mirror walls with ballet barres surround the studios interior for an exquisite finish of the incredibly oversized space.

Our Hip Hop, tap & jazz space features a colourful, funky atmosphere with a Professional Rosco all Purpose Dance floor, modern chrome lighting and huge windows surround this 2000 square foot room.

We are proud to offer both state of the art dance spaces with engineered high impact sprung floors, and a full glass-viewing wall designed for family and friends to enjoy each class in progress.

We are also very excited to plan the "Queens Cafe" where you can sit and relax with a cappuccino or cup of tea and enjoy a dessert or hot soup and sandwich, or if you are in the mood for something more refreshing a smoothie from the smoothie bar just might hit the spot! Opening soon!

Our Mission and Philosophy

At the Queen Street Conservatory our mission is to provide the best quality training in every discipline, as well as to strengthen, inspire and motivate each individual!

We believe and recognize that by offering quality dance and voice training in a positive, creative and disciplined environment students can grow in confidence and self-esteem. At the QC we feel it is important to encourage team spirit as well as to support individual vision. Working closely with peers, superior instructors and outstanding choreographers inspires dedication and strengthens commitment promoting an excellent work ethic which will assist every individual in all that life has to offer, now and in the future.

Competitive Philosophy

The reason the Queen Street Conservatory attends a competitive venue is to provide an opportunity necessary for each and every student to express themselves for an audience which is invaluable in their development and growth as a performer.

Being critiqued by seasoned judges with constructive criticism can be strengthening and useful. It can also be very inspiring and motivating when being exposed to other styles and creative performers.

Workshops are also encouraged so dancers and singers have the opportunity to train with a variety of teachers and learn several different methods and styles, often in a very large group setting, which can be very beneficial in broadening their capabilities.
